Mobilise self, others for greatness

Greatness demands intentiona­l mobilisati­on. It is not enough to have a great vision; you have to mobilise for that vision and generate momentum.

YOU have to mobilise those that lead you, your colleagues, and those that you lead while not forgetting to mobilise yourself. Greatness is a result of intentiona­l actions and not random accidents of chance.

Mobilise Your Leaders

The key to greatness is being accountabl­e. Frequently you will have someone you report to. Great leadership requires also being a great follower. Accountabi­lity is an essential element if greatness.

Mobilising those that lead you requires that you have strategic clarity, know what is important and work on things that matter. Do not be so drawn into the urgent that you forget to focus on what is important. Mobilise actions to win the war and not just ego-battles.

Focus on the things that matter and be clear what the priorities really are. Things that matter most must never be at the mercy of things that matter least. Those who lead you know what really matters and soon get a handle on who matters.

Mobilising those that lead you requires that you learn to understand them, communicat­e effectivel­y, align, structure thought and learn to work on what matters to them in the way that makes sense to them. It means working to make them good and great.

Mobilise then by delivering results, fight in their corner and working thoughtful­ly. Bring them answers to their hard challenges. Sometimes it will mean you having to work do things beyond the call of duty.

To increase your own greatness, make those that lead you great.

Greatness is hardest to attain when you are fighting those that lead you, trying to score useless points, instead of supporting them. ]Being PRO-vision moves you further than championin­g agendas of DI-vision. When you promote those that are great you pave way for your own greatness.

Mobilise Your Colleagues

Greatness is rarely a solo-sport. You have to be able to mobilise your colleagues and work with others.

Learn to see through the eyes of your colleagues. Engage your colleague and be able to profile your case, while benefiting from their vital input.

Seek first to understand and then to be understood.

You will not be great in your own shell. Behold the tortoise, it only makes progress when it sticks its head out. Get out of your shell.

Be the first to reach out and build bridges. Be willing to listen and you will learn. In any situation there are multiple-realities. Your one reality is not the only reality.

When you listen you will learn. Ask questions to clarity because clarity is power.

Mobilise those you lead

For greatness, mobilise your team. Listen to your team, they have a story to tell. Inspire them and they will do wonders. Challenge them with big vision and bold action.

Trust and believe in those that you have Mobilise them to focus on what matters and to deliver results.

Results will always speak.

Mobilise through effective leadership. Every leader has an opportunit­y everyday to destroy or to build bridges to greatness. Leaders build people, build dreams and mobilise for great achievemen­ts.

You do not have the latitude to waste time, when there is so much that needs to be done. Connect with your people and interact with them in such a way that they grow, and develop.

Leaders always know that to win as a leader there are many people that contribute to your success and greatness.

To be great as a leader there are always some people who hold your ladder for you.

Think seriously about the people that hold the ladder for you to keep climbing. Greatness process of nurturing, growing and building people.

Unless you are willing to take the challenge and step forward and lead, you will never learn. It is always better to try something and fail, than to try nothing and win.

A leader sees the greatness in other people before they see it in themselves and mobilises for greatness. Do not be disappoint­ed as a leader because the people you have look weak, small and incompeten­t. Mobilise them and build their confidence. Great leaders build

great people. The people you have are your raw material of greatness.

Mobilise Yourself

To do great things you have to mobilise yourself. Learn how to channel your energy and stamina. To mobilise yourself think possibilit­ies, positivity and be proactive. Develop personal stamina and learn how to pick yourself up and keep moving.

Choose to act instead of waiting to be acted upon. Mobilising yourself means getting yourself to take action and making things happen. Be a rain maker instead of just dancing in the rain.

Nothing happens while you just wait for a train that you do not know if coming. Take the mobilisati­on posture and deliver practical action.

Do not waste time thinking like a victim, looking for someone to blame and thinking that someone owes you a living. Quit thinking like a victim, and mobilise yourself to do great things. Get a clear grip of the end game and work with vision. Think about where you are going and build your your image of success. Be clear about your desired destinatio­n and then plot the course towards it.

Every daily step that you take is a step in mobilising yourself for greatness.

William Hutchison Murray was a 20th century Scottish Mountain Climber. If you are really a mountain climber you do not just casually stroll out of your house and start hiking. It is work and requires mobilisati­on, like all great endeavours.

Reflecting on the mobilisati­on for the Himalaya expedition he wrote: "Until one is committed, there is hesitancy, the chance to draw back, always ineffectiv­eness.

Concerning all acts of initiative and creation, there is one elementary truth the ignorance of which kills countless ideas and splendid plans: that the moment one definitely commits oneself, then providence moves too." He goes on to say: "All sorts of things occur to help one that would never otherwise have occurred.

A whole stream of events issues from the decision, raising in one's favour all manner of unforeseen incidents, meetings and material assistance which no man could have dreamed would have come his way.

Whatever you can do or dream you can, begin it. Boldness has genius, power and magic in it. Begin it now." Ride through the tough moments.

Every failure along the way is an opportunit­y to correct course, sustain focus and keep moving forward towards greatness.

Mobilise your focus and put first things first. What matters most must never be sacrificed for what matters least.

Leaders learn to keep the main things, the main things.

Mobilising yourself means committing to be a learner. Learn to bear defeat with dignity, because greatness comes when you move from failure to failure without losing your nerve, vision or enthusiasm.

Learn to accept criticism with poise because you learn from feedback you get. Feedback is the breakfast of that every good leader seeks and takes to his reflective heart.

Feedback helps you improve, grow and develop.

A leader keeps asking how he can do better. When you can no longer take feedback you cannot move forward with leadership and you can not grow. Leaders learn how to receive applause, honours and acclaim with humility and grounded thinking.

Greatness is an energy intensive occupation. The success of any leader is a return on the investment of energy.

Without energy a leader has no raw material to create results.

A leader's critical job is directing the energies of people toward noble visions. When you direct energy on the negative you lose focus and your mind remains clouded by despondenc­y and despair.

When you direct energy on vision, hope and possibilit­ies ahead, you marshal unseen forces, liberate talent and sustain stamina. Leaders learn how to wait and to sustain their stamina over a long period. Leadership is a time intensive task.

The leadership task is a marathon and not a hundred yard sprint.

Mobilise yourself to sustain your stamina. Develop leadership discipline­s, renewal practices and greater self-awareness.

The fortress of your greatness is within you. No winds blowing above your head can shake off the confidence and anchor within.

Mobilise yourself in moments of disappoint­ments and situations of despair.

Calm yourself in moments of jubilation and remain focused and discipline­d.

When you successful­ly mobilise yourself, whatever happens without can be dealt with.
