Medical Investment Limited installs state of the art microscope

-

In 2018, The Avenues Clinic made headlines after acquiring the 3Tesla MRI Scan as a first of its kind in Africa outside of South Africa. This time around the hospital has again introduced a first in the medical technology space with the installation of a cutting-edge technology PROvido 530 operating microscope. The microscope assists surgeons with considerably magnifying the vision and image resolution as they perform their various surgeries.

The Microscope magnifies the details of tissues, blood vessels, and other anatomy, for surgeons to see more in one fully focused view, enabling them to seamlessly progress through surgery. The CEO for Medical Investments Limited (MIL) Mr Heath Dhana, commented that the decision to purchase the microscope is in line with the group's vision to provide comprehensive healthcare solutions within the Sub-Saharan Africa.

Therefore, focus is not only on servicing local patients but also providing services that are of significance regionally.

Speaking on behalf of surgeons, Dr Cameline Nyamarebvu an Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) Surgeon said as surgeons they are very happy with the state-of-theart microscope. “You know the ear is a very small organ, so you need to magnify

it to be able to see clearly so as to prevent complic-ations. It will improve outcomes of operations and have happy patients at the end of the day so thank you and congratulations to The Avenues Clinic,” she said.

The Avenues clinic is the flagship facility for the Medical Investments Limited (MIL) group. The other units

under the group are St Clements Clinic a chemotherapy unit and Montagu Clinic which was previously a Covid-19 unit. Recently the group opened another unit which is a laboratory.

The Avenues Clinic laboratory offers medical diagnostic services such as:

Biochemistry, Haematology, Microbiology, Immunochemistry and Molecular Biology. The laboratory also offers other services such as Travel Medical, food handlers and infection control screening.

Located within the hospital the laboratory adds to the hospital's appeal in comprehensive healthcare solutions.

Mrs Shereni, the Corporate Affairs Manager for the MIL group commented

that all the achievements by the group are attributable to its drive to deliver optimum and comprehensive clinical care to

patients and stakeholders.
