Pakare Paye graduate ropes in new manager
BARELY three weeks after parting ways with musician Ashton “Mbeu” Nyahora, Eugene Museredza, who was his manager, has found a new home.
He has since crossed the floor and is now working with Innocent “Sarungano” Kufakunesu.
The duo rekindled an association that dates back to the time when Sarungano was still a student at the late Dr Oliver Mtukudzi’s Pakare Paye Arts Centre.
The Afro-fusion singer is extremely gifted but many opine he might struggle to make a‘big’breakthrough due to lack of exposure and proper management.
The budding singer’s debut album“Sarungano: The Story Teller”, released two years ago, attracted positive rave reviews on the market.
In fact, music aficionados taunted him as the next big thing.
“I understand his work. This is not our first time meeting as we have interacted in the past. His is a talented musician and I strongly believe he has the potential to go far with the right support. The majority of artistes that passed through the hands of the late Dr Mtukudzi can do wonders,”said Museredza.
Songs on the debut album include “Mbuya Ndoenda”, “Shanda Zvako” and “Masango Anoera”.
The inspiring effort was followed by yet another above-average album titled “Mafuta” (2021) that further confirmed the aspiring musician’s brilliance.
Tracks on the second album include“Jari Mukaranga”, the title track “Mafuta” and “Ramangwana”.
“It’s already game on. We have no time
to waste, thus a number of projects have been lined-up. I hope to improve his brand visibility in the shortest possible time. Like I said, he is a gifted artiste who deserves attention,” added Museredza.
The duo’s first project is on producing a video for the song “Mafuta”.
They are also working on a new eighttrack album that is due for release in September and will be launched at Pakare Paye.
Sarungano is ecstatic over the recent development.
He acknowledges proper management was the missing link in his music career.
“It is a known fact that the late Dr Mtukudzi had a special nurturing skill. I learnt a lot from him during my Pakare Paye stint. I am sure the coming in of the vastly experienced Museredza is the beginning of bigger things for us as a group,”he said.
“Museredza is the force behind Mbeu’s rise. He is a genius, a hardworking and seasoned manager whom I believe will contribute immensely to the development of my brand.”
