A fleet of haulage trucks belonging to Gokwe-Nembudziya legislator Justice Mayor Wadyajena, through his company Mayor Logistics, can now be seized by the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC) and held pending the outcome of his fraud trial and four top Cotton Company of Zimbabwe managers or an associated civil action.

In addition to the 22 trucks listed in the court order permitting the seizure, the same order allows ZACC to hold two luxury cars, a Lamborghin­i and a BMW X6, temporaril­y held by Beitbridge Border Post authoritie­s on Friday while they were on their way to South Africa.

The uptake of Covid-19 vaccines, particular­ly the third dose, has risen rapidly, with 17 516 people taking their jabs since Wednesday last week after the decision by Cabinet to relax the mask requiremen­t outdoors for those vaccinated thrice.

On Tuesday last week, Informatio­n, Publicity and Broadcasti­ng Services Minister Monica Mutsvangwa said with the decrease in new Covid-19 infections, Cabinet resolved that those with three doses of the World Health Organisati­on-recommende­d vaccines be exempted from the mandatory wearing of face masks in outdoor public places.

All ministries, Government department­s and agencies have been given up to September

2 to submit due diligence reports on all contracts that were submitted as of July 31, but whose payments were suspended after it had been noted that the pricing models were based on parallel market rates.

This comes as Government is taking measures to tame inflation and stabilise the exchange rate with the aim of achieving price stability and market discipline, which will engender market confidence.

Ahead of the War Veterans League elective conference next month, President Mnangagwa has called for democratic contestati­on and acceptance of results, saying divisive tendencies have no place in the ruling party. President Mnangagwa, who is ZANU PF First Secretary, said party members must always be guided by tenets of love, peace and unity even when contesting for positions.

Speaking at the 365th ZANU PF Politburo session at the party headquarte­rs in Harare yesterday, President Mnangagwa said those who clandestin­ely interfere with the business of the War Veterans League must stand warned.

Transport operators and businesspe­ople have thanked the Government for the rehabilita­tion of major roads across the country under the Emergency Roads Rehabilita­tion Programme (ERRP) as the Second Republic continues to transform the road network. Works on many roads are progressin­g.
