Power of prayer

- Pauline Matanda #FaithMovesMountains

JAMES 5:16-18 reads: “. . . The earnest prayer of a righteous man makes tremendous power available; dynamic in its working. Elijah was a human being with a nature such as we have (with feelings, affections and a constitution like ours); and he prayed earnestly for it not to rain, and no rain fell on the earth for three years and six months.”

In 1 Kings 17:1, we read: “Through prayer there are things you must stop, and it shall be so.”

When we proceed to 1 Kings 18: 42-45, we find the following: “And (then) he prayed again and the heavens supplied rain and the land produced its crops (as usual).”

When you pray, do you expect answers?

You should.

God answers prayers. Prayer changes things.

You have been declared righteous; you have a right standing or right relationship with God because of Jesus Christ. As such, your prayers are listened to.

According to 2 Corinthians 5:18, “But all things are from God, Who through Jesus Christ reconciled us to Himself; received us into favour, brought us into harmony with Himself; and gave to us the ministry of reconciliation (that by word and deed, we might aim to bring others into harmony with Him).”

So, Jesus’ mercy and favour speak for you.

Man or woman of prayer, your prayers are powerful, so do not stop praying. Elijah was as human as you are but look at what his prayer achieved. He stopped the rain for three-and-ahalf years and then prayed again to bring it back.

That seemingly impossible situation is subject to change. The power to change it is in you and with you. Pray.

A heartfelt, continued prayer releases tremendous power. A prayer of faith turns around situations. Pray Until Something Happens (PUSH).

Elijah prayed until rain came down. It is about to rain in your life. Keep praying. There is the sound of abundant rain. Pray. Elijah kept praying. In 1 Kings 18:44, we read: “The seventh time the servant said, ‘Look, a small cloud, the size of the palm of a man’s hand, is rising up from the sea’.”

Elijah then said, “Go and tell Ahab, ‘Hitch up the chariots and go down, so that the rain won’t overtake you.’”

Do not stop praying. Do not give up. God is about to answer your prayers in an amazing way.

Like Elijah, hold on. God is answering your prayers. Rain is about to overtake you. A prayer of faith provides much.
