NEW HEALTH 263

-

New Health 263 Private Limited (Health263 as it is known in the market) is the pioneer of biometric electronic submission of claims in Zimbabwe. Health263 successfully integrated disparate systems thereby enabling them to communicate with each other and in the process submit medical claims in real time to medical aid companies and allowing feedback to be given to healthcare service providers in a matter of seconds. The company also provides a Practice Management System for doctors that works both online and ofline through a local area network to turn a practice into a paperless environment hence bringing more efficiency to the market.

The company has recently introduced a disease management system designed to meet the needs of patients with chronic diseases such as diabetes, hypertension and HIV. The program is evidence-based, clinically appropriate and delivered by experienced healthcare professionals who are dedicated to improving patient outcomes hence reducing the ultimate cost burden of chronic diseases on the healthcare industry.

Health263 has started using artificial intelligence in their Fraud Waste and Abuse platform that allows for medical aid companies to be proactive in managing Fraud Waste and Abuse on claims as opposed to be reactive. With this platform fraudulent claims can be flagged in real time before payment allowing for further investigation and corrective measures to be carried out.

The company has its main offices at Smatsatsa Office Park, Liberation Legacy Way, Harare, and another branch in Bulawayo.

Foundation and Early Growth

New Health 263 started with a vision to make healthcare accessible by creating user-friendly and cuttingedge technology solutions for the healthcare sector. Health263 was founded in 2013 by Mr Isaack Manitho who has a strong passion for digitalization and is driven by improving healthcare access through technology. At the core of New Health 263’s operation is the mission to deliver correct data, in real-time by exceeding expectations without compromising on quality and international standards. The desire to push boundaries is the reason why Health263 is highly regarded by its partners and clients as an essential role player in health systems across Africa. The company was incorporated after a long research and development process backed by an extensive feasibility study carried out in 2012. Since inception, NH263 partnered with Apace Systems, a South African company, with whom they have progressively developed an entire suite of customized systems and business processes to provide the healthcare and insurance industry with strategic, scalable, and adaptive products. In 2014, the company was endorsed by the Ministry of Health and Child Care and the Association of Healthcare Funders of Zimbabwe (AHFoZ) as a key player in the electronic claims submission space with a vision of evolving into a national electronic healthcare hub. These endorsements were a prodigious achievement for the company which led to the delivery of the first biometric claim in 2014. During this year, the company created an opportunity to build a credible reputation amongst key role players in the Zimbabwean medical industry with a turnkey solution built with leading-edge technology. The beginning of 2015 was the commencement of definitive growth of New Health 263 as the company connected Bonvie Medical Aid Scheme as its first healthcare funder on the Biometric Claims Switching Platform System. This was a pathway for healthcare service providers to be connected on the system and by the end of the year, a total of 46 providers were connected. Fast forward 10 years later, Health263 has over 2400 healthcare service providers connected in Zimbabwe and the number growing every day. The system processes approximately 100 000 claims to medical aid companies a week and has over 1.4 million active medical aid members on the platform

Over the years, New Health 263 has achieved numerous milestones. As soon as the first healthcare funder was connected, the company grew regionally in 2016, where there was a vast increase in the number of connected clients on the NH263 system. As the company’s vision to expand above and beyond Africa, opportunities out of Zimbabwe started to rise. Presently, the company supports its partners directly or indirectly in South Africa, Zambia, Mozambique, Namibia and Uganda.

In June 2023 the Health263 system was ISO (International Organization for Standardization) certified in the following areas: Information Technology Service Management systems (ISO 20000), Information Security Management Systems (ISO 27001) and Quality Management Systems (ISO 9001). This year Health263 celebrates ten years of service to the country and the healthcare sector. New Health 263’s unwavering commitment to innovation, customer satisfaction and social responsibility has positioned it as a trailblazer in the health IT solutions industry. With a strong foundation and a talented team, the company continues to shape the future of technology, empowering individuals, and businesses in Africa.
