President to meet young leaders
PRESIDENT MNANGAGWA is tomorrow scheduled to interact with young professionals and leaders at the second edition of the annual Nyika Inovakwa Nevene Vayo Presidential Interaction with Young Executives and Professionals, in Harare.
The engagement seeks to give young people an opportunity to deliberate with the Head of State on their skills, innovations and how they can contribute to the country’s ongoing economic transformation.
President Mnangagwa launched the inaugural event in December last year, which was organised by the Vision 2030 Movement.
In a statement, Vision 2030 Movement secretary-general Mr Peter Matangi said: “This event, launched by President Mnangagwa in December last year at the Harare International Conference Centre, will bring young people from different professions and sectors of the economy, junior parliamentarians and student representatives.
“This premier event seeks to show the whole world how young people of this country acknowledge with gratitude achievements made by the Second Republic, led by President Mnangagwa, to reignite economic recovery, growth, prosperity, and are conscious of the values of the liberation struggle.”
Also, Mr Matangi said young people appreciate the endeavours being made by President Mnangagwa to include them in the development of the country.
“His Excellency has proven to be an inclusive leader, who has opened his doors and embraced young people and afforded them the opportunity to play a fundamental role in development.
“When he decided to grace our inaugural event last year, we resolved to make it a tradition that we meet at the end of every year and tap into his wisdom nuggets and his message of hope into the forthcoming year.”
Mr Matangi said recently, they engaged with Vice President Kembo Mohadi, as a lead-up to tomorrow’s main event.
“This event is coming after the Vision 2030 Movement hosted another high-profile event in Masvingo two weeks ago, graced by Vice President Kembo Mohadi. At that event, young people and the private sector discussed how they can create partnerships and capacity building programmes to empower youths to be at the centre of economic development. As such, on the 11th of December, we will elevate this discourse with President Mnangagwa, who is the brains behind Vision 2030.”
Mr Matangi said Zimbabwe’s youths must celebrate the Nyika Inovakwa Nevene Vayo philosophy introduced by President Mnangagwa as it gives them an opportunity to provide solutions to national challenges and become masters of their own destiny.
Vision 2030 Movement executive chairperson Mr Paul Tapiwa Mavima said: “The Vision 2030 Movement was formed in 2019 after pronouncement of the Vision 2030 policy by President Mnangagwa as a tool to mobilise young people to participate in policy formulation, implementation and development initiatives provided by Government.
“From 2019 to date, we have done so many programmes across the country with ministries and Government departments.”
“This year’s meeting will take place at Meikles Hotel. Before the arrival of our esteemed guest of honour, we will get an opportunity to interact among ourselves to network.”
