Zacc, IoDZ join forces against corruption

- JOTHAM GUTSA

THE Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (Zacc) recently forged an alliance with Institute of Directors Zimbabwe (IoDZ) through signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to advocate for the fight against corruption through corporate governance platforms.

The MOU signing ceremony coincided with the Institute of Directors Zimbabwe (IoDZ )’s Director of the Year (DOYA) award ceremony which saw six directors being recognised and awarded for their business efforts during the year.

In her keynote address, Zacc chairperson Justice Loice Matanda-Moyo said the agreement would ensure that they joined forces to fight corruption in the private sector.

“We must fight corruption as board members because we are the corporate governance champions and we are mandated to play an oversight role on policy formulation and implementation. This MoU comes at a very opportune time where we can partner with IoDZ in training our officers to be able to detect such offences, exchange of information on best practices and strategies in tackling such issues,” she said.

“I also applaud the effort by IoDZ in curbing corruption through training, research, development and various events that foster corporate governance practices, systems and processes. As Zacc we take pride in collaborative approaches to mitigating corruption through creation of strategic partnerships,” she added.

Meanwhile, BancABC managing director and CEO Lance Mambondiani came out tops with two awards as he scooped the 2020 Chief Executive Officer of the Year and overall director of the year.

Other winners included Compulink Systems managing director Simon Nyamuda, who bagged the 2019 Director of the Year accolade in the Young Director of the Year category.

Sapienta Bachi of TBWA scooped small-and-medium-sized Enterprise rector of the Year.

OK Zimbabwe's commercial director Albert Katsande won the 2020 chairperson of the Year at the same event. the Di
