Importance of professional leadership for organisations

- A total of ZW$1,7 billion was set aside dedicated to refurbishment and upgrade of selected toll gates into toll plazas. Norton tollgate expansion is currently underway.

PROFESSIONAL leadership is important for organisations and the nation at large as it entails the following:

• •

having a clear vision, the ability to communicate the vision to team members,

the ability to organise in an effective and efficient manner,

inspiring subordinates towards the fulfilment of the organisation’s goals, and

balancing the conflict of interest of all subordinates and stakeholders.

Leadership is what determines the success of an organisation and family. is is what IoDZ stands for.

e mission of IoDZ is to promote excellence, enterprise, integrity and ethical behaviour in entrepreneurs, shareholders, directors and managers of all organisations and to raise standards of corporate governance best practice in Zimbabwe. As Zinara, we are aligned to this mission as we strive to turnaround the organisation. We are compelled to share the following successes that Zinara has accomplished this year:

In light of the famous 2017 Grant ornton forensic audit report, several recommendations have been implemented and big Zinara contracts with service providers have been reviewed in line with international best practices.

As Zinara, we have made a deliberate decision to engage and keep all our stakeholders updated on all our activities. e Zinara that we are building is anchored on transparency, accountability and delivery. We now have clarity of thought insofar as our mandate is concerned.

We have also recruited new management that upholds the values of IoDZ as we strive to groom honourable and reputable directors of tomorrow that will build a reputable Zinara that we all wish to be associated with and ultimately a better Zimbabwe.

Revenue streams

We recently convened our annual general meeting for the years 2019 and 2020 and it was successful, highly commendable. Consequent to these deliberate efforts, Zinara eliminated the deficit/losses of prior years, from a loss of ZW$149 million in 2019 to a surplus of ZWL$506 million in 2021. Overall, the liquidity position of the organisation has been continually improving, setting a good stage for continued funding support to the ongoing Emergency Road Rehabilitation Programme 2 (ERRP 2) roadworks.

Disbursements

At the beginning of the year, Zinara had targeted to disburse ZW$17 billion towards the ongoing ERRP2 works. To date, we are pleased to report that ZW$13,5 billion has been disbursed and we are on schedule. We are confident that we will meet and exceed our projected disbursements for this year.

Tollgate infrastructure development Remarks

We are honoured to be associated with IoDZ and we celebrate those who are being recognised for their outstanding commitment and efforts. As I close, allow me to appreciate IoDZ for appointing one of our board members Alderman Mudzara as IoDZ councillor. To have a man of honour worthy of your recognition sitting on our board is a reflection that we are doing something right.

ank you.
