ICAZ writes centennial volume
THE Institute of Chartered Accountant of Zimbabwe (ICAZ) has recently launched its Centennial Celebration volume titled “Celebrating the last 100 years and Moving the Marker forward”.
e book is the first of its kind published by a business membership organisation (BMO). It is an exciting and detailed chronicle of the growth and evolution of the Institute in relation to the socio-economic environment.
e fact that it was authored through the contributions of 12 contributors makes it a dynamic read, with an interesting variety of experiences and emotions coming through.
e concept of the book was born in 2018 when ICAZ celebrated its Centenary amid a great deal of fanfare and excitement under the theme “Celebrating 100 years- a Stepping Stone into the next”.
ere was a realisation that 100 years is indeed a very long time which required the formal documentation of key events of the journey.
e overarching question that arose was whether there was reason of substance to celebrate at all apart from the 100 year milestone.
If there was, a further question arose as to how one might turn the celebration points into multi-competence team to help with addressing specific areas of specialisation that were arising through the research work.
A team of 12 professional experts with diverse backgrounds was put together and then began the work, which is now the book. In order to be able to continue to research and write, it was necessary to secure funding for the project.
Ernst and Young were the first to support the book project, making a donation to facilitate the continuation of the research work.
e ICAZ Centennial book is about a Zimbabwean organization that has attained a Century Club status. It is a narrative of our nation of Zimbabwe through the footprint of ICAZ, hence the Great Zimbabwe Monument on the cover to confirm the identity.
e result of several months of research, the COVID-19 interruption and more months of writing, is a 424-page pictorial volume which covers the successes of, and challenges faced by ICAZ in the past 100 years culminating in the celebration of “100 years of integrity".
