The IIZ re-elects 2022/2023 presidium
President- Panganai Sanangurai
THE Insurance Institute of Zimbabwe (IIZ) has re-elected seasoned insurance practitioner Panganai Sanangurai as its president up to 2023.
Sanangurai is a seasoned industry leader with over 25 years’ experience in the insurance sector
.He has actively served various industry bodies notably as the past.chairman of the Insurance Council of Zimbabwe (ICZ) and Comesa Regional Customs Transit Guarantee Scheme (RCTGS), amongst other responsibilities, on various industry committees.
Sanangurai is passionate about the development of the insurance industry in Zimbabwe and has consistently supported insurance examining bodies as an examiner and a member of the academic board.
He is affiliated with the Insurance Institute of South Africa (AIISA)and is a Fellow of Insurance Institute of Zimbabwe (FIIZ).
He sits on various boards including the Standards Association of Zimbabwe General Council (SAZ) and that of Allied Insurance (Pvt) Ltd were he serves at the MD.
He is a family man who enjoys sports in his spare time.
Sanangurai will be deputised by Tatenda Katoma as 1st vice president and Dorcas Chihota as 2nd vice-president.
1st Vice President - Tatenda Katoma
Katoma is the Group Managing Grand Reinsurance (Grand Re).
He has 18 years’ experience in the surance industry having started with FBC Re (SARE) and briefly joined AON Re Zimbabwe (Minerva) (2008), before joining Grand Re in 2009 as the underwriting manager.
He rose through the ranks to the position of managing director and then group managing director, the position he currently holds.
Katoma holds B Comm Risk Management degree from the University of South Africa (UNISA), MBA (ESAMI).
He is a Certified Risk and Compliance Management Professional in Insurance and Reinsurance, CRCMP (Re) (IARCP).
He is the current Chairperson of Zimbabwe Association of Reinsurance Offices (ZARO).
He also enjoys bream fishing and family holidays.
2nd Vice President -Dorcas Rudo Chihota
Chihota (ACII) has close to 20 years working experience in the life and health space.
She is currently the Executive Director Life

IIZ Board member - Loice Sango Kunyongana
She is the head of Life Administration and was a team leader during the development of Fidelity Life Park and Fidelity Southview Park for Fidelity Life Assurance, a subsidiary of ZIMRE holdings Limited. She holds an MBA from the University of Zimbabwe, a diploma and certificate of Proficiency in Long Term Insurance, a fellow of the Chartered Governance and Accounting Institute in Zimbabwe ( CGIAZ), formerly CIS where she sits on the board of council. Loice served on the international council for the Chartered Governance Institute from 2016 to 2022. She is a member of the executive committee of Zimbabwe Association of Funeral Assurers and a member of the Insurance Institute of Zimbabwe council.Before joining Fidelity Life, Loice worked as Pension Fund Accountant for Old Mutual Life and senior accountant at City of Harare. She has experience in accounting, project management and administration.
