Senior bureaucrat K. Arvind Kumar, who wielded a lot of power as municipal administration and urban development special chief secretary in the BRS regime, was on Sunday shunted to the disaster management department in a reshuffle of senior bureaucrats.

Arvind had also held the post of metropolitan commissioner of the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA), nodal agency for development and the issuer of building approvals mainly on the city outskirts. Interestingly, he had filed a defamation case against Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy (then in the Opposition) for his observations on the Outer Ring Road toll contract.

Principal secretary Dana Kishore, Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWS&SB) managing director, will now head the MA&UD department and hold additional charge of Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority metropolitan commissioner.

C. Sudarshan Reddy has been posted as HMWS&SB managing director. Burra Venkatesham, an efficient officer who has been sidelined by the BRS government, was given important assignment of education and will hold additional charge of collegiate and technical education.

The government clubbed the transport and roads and buildings departments and appointed K.S. Sreenivasa Raju as its head.

He had enjoyed a good position even during the BRS regime.

Rahul Bojja, secretary to then chief minister K. Chandrashekar Rao, was transferred to the general administration department and will continue to hold charge of the SC development department.

Vakati Karuna was appointed secretary, women and child welfare, while Nalgonda collector R.V. Karnan was transferred as director, medical, health and family welfare.
