Huggins overtakes Williams
Sean McNeil scored all 15 of his points in the final 10:12 of the game and West Virginia rallied last in a 66-59 victory against Clemson Sunday in the third-place game of the Charleston Classic in South Carolina — handing Mountaineers coach Bob Huggins his 904th career victory.
The win moves Huggins past Roy Williams to fourth place on the all-time list. Huggins, in his 39th season on the bench, trails only Mike Krzyzewski (1,170), Jim Boeheim ( 982) and Jim Calhoun (918).
West Virginia led, 35-34, at halftime in a game that saw 14 lead changes. Clemson (42) trailed, 39- 38, when Hunter Tyson hit a layup and Al- Amir Dawes sank a 3pointer to spark an 11-0 run that put the Tigers ahead, 4939, with 14 minutes remaining in the game. The Mountaineers trailed, 49-41, when McNeil sank his first shot. McNeil sank a 3 with 6:29 left to get West Virginia within 54-50. Following a layup by Clemson’s Naz Bohannon, McNeil hit two shots in a 10-0 run that gave the Mountaineers a 60-56 lead with 2:03 to go and they stayed in front from there.
McNeil made two free throws with 17 seconds left for a 64-59 lead after Clemson received a technical foul for having six players on the court. He sank two more with 3 seconds remaining.
Taz Sherman finished with 12 points for West Virginia. McNeil missed all four of his first-half shots before knocking down 5 of 8 after intermission.
Dawes scored 15 of his team-high 18 points in the first half for Clemson. PJ Hall and Nick Honor scored 10 points apiece.

Purdue 80, Villanova 74: Zach Edey scored 21 points and No. 6- ranked Purdue overcame an 11-point second-half deficit to beat No. 5 Villanova and win the Hall of Fame Tip-Off tournament in Uncasville, Conn.
Caleb Furst and Isaiah Thompson each added 12 points for the Boilermakers (5-0), who dominated underneath, outscoring the Wildcats, 38-18, in the paint and outrebounding them, 38-26.
Justin Moore had 19 points, Caleb Daniels added 17 and Collin Gillespie had 14 for Villanova (3-2).
The Wildcats led, 33-31, at halftime, scored the first five points in the second half and were up, 57-46, after a 3pointer by Daniels.
But Purdue outscored the Wildcats, 34-17, over the final nine minutes.
A dunk by Edey after an apparent missed travel call on Sasha Stefanovic tied the score at 62-62, and a fastbreak layup from Furst gave the Boilermakers the lead at 64-62 with four minutes left, their first lead in the second half.
A slam and free throw by Edey with just under a minute to play extended the lead to 75-65, and the Boilermakers held on.
Tennesse 89, North Carolina 72: Tennessee turned to its two freshmen guards to bounce back from its first loss of the season and win the consolation of the Hall of Fame Tip-Off tournament in Ucasville.
Zakai Zeigler scored 18 points to go with five assists, Kennedy Chandler had 14 points, 8 assists and 5 rebounds, and the 17th-ranked Volunteers cruised past No. 18 North Carolina.
“Both those guys really did a good job in terms of, I thought, even simple sort of motion,” coach Rick Barnes said. “We obviously like to get [Zeigler] running to the basket some, which there at the end he and Kennedy, where they’re playing those two-man games, he’s very effective there as well.”
Santiago Vescovi added 18 points and nine rebounds for the Volunteers ( 3- 1), who were coming off a 71-53 loss Saturday to Villanova.
