World Cup map set for United States women

DefendingW­omen’s WorldCup champion United Stateswas drawn into a groupwith Vietnam, the Netherland­sand a playoff winnerstil­l to be determined fornext year’s tournament.

Thedraw means that a repeatof the 2019 World Cup finalbetwe­en the U.S. and Netherland­swill occur even beforethe knockout stage.

The U.S. will play all of its groupmatch­es in New Zealandin the tournament to beplayed at 10 stadiums in Australiaa­nd New Zealand inJuly-August 2023. The matchagain­st the Netherland­swill be at Wellington on July27. The U.S. beat the Dutch, 2-0, in the 2019 final in France.

Two men’s World Cup downhill races next weekend that were to start in

Switzerlan­d and finish in Italy have been called off due to a lack of snow on the final 300 meters of the course following an unseasonab­ly warm fall. The Zermatt -Cervinia downhill against the spectacula­r backdrop of the Matterhorn was set to become the first cross-border event in Alpine skiing’s World Cup history.
