‘A Peter White Christmas’ set for Saturday night at Miller Center
Joining the renowned guitarist for the Berks Jazz Fest holiday show will be saxophonist Mindi Abair and multi-instrumentalist Vincent Ingala.
While some people dream of sugar plums, nutcrackers and Santa parades, jazz fans dream of Boscov’s Berks Jazz Fest’s annual Holiday Show.
And this year, BJF veteran Peter White is returning to celebrate the 20th anniversary of his original “A Peter White Christmas” on Saturday at 7 p.m. in the Miller Center for the Arts.
Joining the renowned guitarist will be saxophonist Mindi Abair and multi-instrumentalist Vincent Ingala, to help ring in the holiday season with traditional and original songs, some from the 2007 album, “A Peter White Christmas.”
“My love for Christmas music has endured throughout the years,” White says. “I hope this tour will be an opportunity for many smooth jazz fans to enjoy their favorite Christmas songs in a family setting.”
Abair is an influential, multigenre saxophonist/singer who brought her own “I Can’t Wait for Christmas” Tour to Reading last December. She is happy to be reunited with White and Ingala, whom she calls “the most talented guy you can imagine.”
Ingala, best known for his charismatic sax playing, played all the instruments on his nine original songs and his arrangement of “Disco Sax” on his 2021 album, “Fire & Desire.” No need to say anything more.
The BJF Holiday concert, presented by Berks Arts, will conclude a day of activities for jazz fans, beginning with the BJF Arts Advocate presale for tickets to the Boscov’s Berks Jazz Fest 2024, starting in-person at 9 a.m. at the DoubleTree by Hilton Reading.
That afternoon at 2, there will be a wine-tasting event from wine andjazz.com hosted by Abair and Eric Guerro at the DoubleTree Amphitheater.
And there will also be a latenight party at the DoubleTree’s Cheers Lounge, with Al “DJ ACT” Taylor.
