Springton Manor Farm to hold annual Sheep and Wool Day
The sheep are losing their winter wool, and you’re invited to the shearing! Chester County Parks + Preservation’s annual Sheep & Wool Day will be held on Saturday, April 27, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., at Springton Manor Farm.
The highlight of Sheep and Wool Day, the annual shearing of the herd, takes place throughout the event. There will also be live blacksmith demonstrations, fleece spinning and weaving demonstrations, kids’ inflatables, face painting, wagon rides, food trucks and animal education programs.
Springton Manor Farm’s Great Barn will be open with plenty of agricultural history to explore. Penn State Extension and 4-H Clubs will showcase animals, milking goats, cows and swine displays. The Chester County Animal Response Team will demonstrate how they prepare for emergencies and disasters affecting animals. Wagon rides through Springton Manor Farm’s scenic 300 acres run throughout the day, and there will be family-friendly exhibits and vendors, craft making, and children’s games and races for all to enjoy.
Sheep & Wool Day is free and is held light rain or shine. Pets are not permitted. Parking will be at Springton Manor Elementary School, 400 Fairview Road, Glenmoore with free busing provided. Handicap and vendor parking will be available at the Farm.
