Kay S. Moyer

-

With a heavy heart filled with fond memories, we bid farewell to Kay Suzanne Moyer, lovingly known as ‘Suzie’, who passed away peacefully at the age of 86 on April 17 th, 2024, in Pottstown, PA, joining her beloved late husband Robert A Moyer, Sr., affectionately called ‘Bob’.

Kay’s journey began in the quaint town of Boyertown, Pennsylvania, where she was born to the late William Peter and Helen Reitnauer. She often reminisced about her joyful upbringing there, filled with love and laughter.

During her high school years, Kay met the love of her life, sparking a romance that led to marriage just four months after her graduation. Together, they raised three wonderful children, creating a lifetime of beautiful memories.

After her children were raised, Kay resumed working by joining the staff at the bustling high school cafeteria at Pottsgrove, while her two oldest children were enrolled there. In the lively atmosphere filled with the sounds of clinking lunch trays and youthful laughter, she experienced and savored numerous amusing episodes involving her children and their friends, cherishing the moments spent together during her work hours.

Kay then ventured into the world of banking, undergoing training to become a teller. She relished the many chances to interact, welcome and engage in conversation with the customers in this dynamic working environment.

In 1987, Kay and her husband acquired Kemps Market in Sanatoga, where they poured their hearts into the thriving business until their retirement.

Kay was proud to be Pennsylvania Dutch and if you knew her, you knew her favorite foods included ham, french fries, and potato chips. She was also a talented baker and her family delighted in her tasty sweet sticky buns and pies.

Kay’s passion for sewing shone through in the beautiful gifts she crafted for her loved ones, a testament to her creativity and love. She was a member of the Boyertown and Creamery Quilt Guilds. The pets in her family brought so much happiness, and she had endless stories to tell about their shenanigans.

Away from the hustle and bustle, Kay found solace at ‘Hemlock Haven’, the family cabin she and her husband helped build. But her greatest joy came from spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, creating priceless memories that will endure forever.

Surviving are her daughter, Diane (William Gaul) of Pottstown; grandchildren, Stacey Moyer, Robert A. Moyer, III (Mary Smith), Christopher Moyer (Shannon Dise), Stephen Wilchek (Elizabeth), Dillon Gaul (Madeline) and Josh Moyer; and five great grandchildren, Steffanie Moyer, Sonali Shah, Christian Moyer, Quinten Shah, and Robert A. Moyer, IV, all who will carry her legacy of love and laugher in their hearts. She was predeceased by her son, Robert A. Moyer, Jr. husband of Renee, Boyertown, and her daughter, Roxann Nyce.

Services will be private. In honor of Kay’s memory, contributions may be made to New Hanover Lutheran Church, 2941 Lutheran Rd., Gilbertsville, PA 19525, a place dear to her heart.

Though we mourn her passing, we find comfort in knowing that Kay’s spirit will live on in the cherished memories she leaves behind. Rest in peace, dear Mom. You will be deeply missed.
