Janie will be deeply missed by her husband of 59 years, Manuel E. Correia of Turlock, her two daughters, Diane E. McCoy of Ripon and Elizabeth A. Alioto (Paul) of Salinas. She was a loving Nana to Ashley Laura (Walter) Duccini, Julia Catherine McCoy and fiancé Fred Amyett, and grandsons, Matthew Lucas Alioto, and Jack Henry Alioto. Janie is also survived by her brothers Jeffery King Cullum (Beverly) of Turlock, Jonathan Henry Cullum (Diane) of Castro Valley, Kevin Charles Cullum (Mary Jane) of Denair, Patrick Joseph Cullum of La Grange, and sister-in-law Willa Clydene Dowell Cullum of Hayward, along with many cousins, nephews, and nieces.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry David Cullum of Farmersville, Texas and Edythe Evangeline Deering of St. Paul, Minnesota, as well as her grandparents, King David Cullum, Sr. of Eglantine, Arkansas, Myrtle Mae Wood of Farmersville, Texas, Charles William Deering of Plum City, Wisconsin, and Lelia Evelyn Frink of Grey Eagle, Minnesota. Janie was also preceded by her twin brothers, Donald and David Cullum, and her younger sister, Robin Dale Atkerson.

Janie’s education included attending Lincoln School, River School, and Hart-Ransom School for elementary and middle school education. She attended Turlock High School and then graduated from Gustine High School in 1964. She married her husband, Manuel Correia after graduating and began taking classes at Modesto Junior College with her husband and then they began their family, and she stayed home to raise their daughters.

Janie was a homemaker for most of her married life, caring for her family until her children were grown and started their own families. She and Manuel took on a new adventure and began a business together. She transitioned into taking care of the day-to-day paperwork of her husband’s business, J&M Water Trucks. Her entire world was her family. She always made them a priority and put them first. Her life was centered around watching her grandchildren grow and following along with their activities and interests. She enjoyed the outdoors. Growing up, her family always camped together at Spring Gap and Frasier Flats. This was a tradition she carried on with her own family. Janie rode her bike daily around the park, walked around the college to get outside, and chatted with her neighbors. On her walks with her grandchildren and daughters, Janie would point out different plants and flowers and share her knowledge. Our memories together will be cherished always.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 18, 2024 at Turlock Memorial Park and Funeral Home, with a chapel service at 10:00 a.m., followed by a procession and graveside service. A luncheon will be held at her daughter’s home in Ripon, 117 Haller Court, Ripon, CA 95366 after the burial.

Our family would like to thank Covenant Care Home Health and Community Hospice for wonderful care.
