PNL boss satisfied

- Darlington Gatsi

PREMIER Netball League secretary-general Liberty Mhizha is satisfied with the just-ended netball season, which was held without Covid-19 disruptions.

“I am happy that consistent guidance given by the relevant ministries helped us avert any COVID-19 cases among the netball league clubs, with such guidance and adherence l trust that we will engage more in the coming season.

Mhizha said he was impressed by how the league conducted its business in their inaugural season. They were looking ahead to kick start the new season early next year.

“When l look back at the journey which just came to an end today (Sunday), in the PNL inaugural year l can’t help but smile at the sacrifices made by many cooperates and individuals to make it a success. The future is bright and promising.

“Learning it’s a continuous process and with each new day comes a different perspective, looking into the new season ahead we trust we will begin early and spread the games far and wide with fewer teams meeting at each venue. We definitely anticipate workshops to be conducted to appraise every arm of netball with the ever changing ideologies world over,” said Mhizha.

The launch of the first ever professional netball league provided a relief to the sport which had been inactive since 2019 due to Covid-19 restrictions

Netball bounced back this year with a launch tournament in Bulawayo followed by the league season in mid-October.

The crowning of the Champions and best players will cap off what has been a decent season for PNL on a date yet to be announced.

“An awards ceremony will mark the official close of the season, where outstanding clubs and individuals will be recognised on a date yet to be agreed on,” he said.
