BAMUSI DEMANDS MORE

- Bruce Chikuni

CAPS UNITED captain Phineas Bamusi has urged his teammates to pull up their socks in the wake of their poor start in the Premiership.

They have failed to register a win in their first two games, collecting two points out of a possible six.

Bamusi told H-Metro Sport that it is too early to rule them out of the race.

“Yes, it is a disappointing start. A club of CAPS United’s calibre deserves a better start. I think it is us the players who need to up our game. We can do better than this.

“We cannot complain too much, we are still in the early stages of the season. I believe we are a good team and we will bounce back very soon. Our focus now is on our next assignment which I know we can come up with something positive,” said Bamusi.

The 30-year-old argued that the Green Machine side was strong enough to challenge for the title despite their slow start.

“Yes, we are hoping for the best. We are a big club and we have big targets for this season. We have a strong team which is capable of competing with any top team in the Premiership.

“I believe it is just a matter of time before we start collecting maximum points. This is a new team and we are working under a new technical set up. We are trying our best to adjust and it is still work in progress,” he said.

He pleaded with the CAPS United supporters not to despair.

“Our target is to win the championship and am appealing to the Green Machine fans to be patient with us. We need their support. We urge them to rally behind the team, we really appreciate their undying support. It means a lot to us.

“As an individual, I am promising to give my level best and to be among the best players at the end of the season,” said Bamusi.
