KAWARA, WATTAFFI PEN THEME SONG

- Paul Pindani in CHINHOYI

WILLIS WATAFFI and Alexio Kawara on Wednesday delivered a scintillating performance at this year’s World AIDS Day commemorations held at Chinhoyi University of Technology (CUT) grounds.

The 33rd edition of the global commemorations was held under the theme: “End Pandemics, End Inequalities, End AIDS”.

H-Metro Entertainment & Lifestyle caught up with Wataffi who said they were committed to fighting new HIV infections with the assistance of young artistes. “I decided to work with a lot of young artistes because they are the future of tomorrow.

“They are the ones we are dealing with especially young kids who are taking drugs as well as tackling HIV and AIDS related issues.

“We are just going out there doing what we can as artistes to take full responsibility and making sure that the message is sent out there using the channel that is called music,” he said.

Wataffi, who performed the theme song along with Kawara, Feli Nandi, Tahle weNzinza, Brian Kadengu and Dancehall Cader, described the whole experience as amazing.

“We worked with the engineer called Connie Mponda of Harmony Studios and I produced it.

“We didn’t take long because we have been working on it every day since last week. So, it’s very new, just got completed three days ago.

“In future, we hope that each and every one of the corporate world and organisations can partner just like what NAC has done to partner with artistes that there is hope in the message to a wider scale using music as a tool,” said Watafi.
