Tia remembers Fortune Muparutsa
AWARD-WINNING pop singer Tia, who made a name for herself at the turn of the millennium with the hit song ‘‘Boy You Got To Know’’, salutes her late producer Fortune Muparutsa.
Tia is one of the urban grooves pioneers who played a role in paving the way for the younger urban generation in the music industry.
Her hit song “Boy You Got To Know” was ahead of its time while its video starring one of our best actors Arnold Chirisa was superb.
H-Metro Entertainment & Lifestyle noted with interest when Tia eulogised Muparutsa and divulged about Boy You Got to Know on social media.
“I was only 17 when I worked with him. We would go up to 2am recording one verse, it took six months to record Boy You Got Know.
“Working with him was a blessing because he was no ordinary talent, the writing and recording process, the vocal lessons and pep talks to prepare me and guide me through the recording experience was something else,” posted Tia on social media.
“He had so much confidence in me, as I doubted myself, he would compare me to trending international artistes at the time.
“As an artiste finding a producer who you are compatible with musically is so important and can be instrumental into making you a break out star,” she added.
Tia also said that producers like Muparutsa are hard to find.
“Zimbabwe will never see another producer quite like him.
“I can only wish if he were alive today and you know what that meant,” she said. Popular rapper Alishias “Maskiri” Musimbe also regards Muparutsa as one of the best producers as he is also the one who discovered his talent as a rapper.
Initially, Maskiri wanted to be an R’nB and soul artiste.
