- Mathew Masinge

REVEREND Togarepi Chivaviro says his fans remain close to his heart and he will not cut ties with them anytime soon.

The Ebenezer hit-maker made the remarks ahead of his 19th album launch set for next month.

He told H-Metro Entertainment and Lifestyle that he is shifting focus to add a traditional feel to all his forthcoming projects.

“All is order for the launch of my 19th album on my birthday in January next year. The project will carry eight tracks including four songs and four hymns.

“We are trying new things and will now shift focus to add a traditional feel to our songs,” said Chivaviro.

He said his interactions with American artists and fans has called for a new identity.

“When you are out in the diaspora you see the value of being yourself if you identify yourself with a certain African beat.

“As for me, my feel has to be Zimbabwean and I have to work towards presenting my music in the natural Zimbabwean sound which includes mbira, traditional drums etc,” he said.

The singer also hinted on plans to release more music videos.

“As we shift focus on how we do our music, fans should also look forward to new improved visuals to accompany the album. The shift will take time and request that our fans be patient during the transition because we don’t want to lose people who have been following us from the beginning.

“Again, this is assurance that we will not go on another sabbatical as long as we are alive we will do more music,” he said.

He said he is also improving his son’s talent and help him launch two new videos soon.

“We are also working on releasing two new videos for Tinashe for the singles - Hakuna Zita sera Jesu and Ana Daddy Ngavakomborerwe.

“He has been unable to contribute fully to his music because of his commitment to school work,” he said.
