Argentinos en Andorra is working to create an itinerant Consulate

The president of the Association claimed that the Government already has all the information on the victims to EL PERIÒDIC that last November they presented to the Executive all the information relating to cases of labor abuses of Argentine workers: «They have all the information since November, with names, surnames and telephone numbers of the affected people, and they have not yet contacted any of them.” For this reason, Ponce explained that they feel frustrated because they see that there are people who are having a bad time and they cannot move forward because there are things that are beyond their reach.
Going into detail, Ponce pointed out that they have many cases of Argentines who are being deceived
and who come from Argentina and who were told that they would be paid for the round trip and then they are not paid. He also explained that there are many cases where they have not been given accommodation or they have been made to work illegally, or they are given accommodation from Monday to Friday and at the weekend they have to find another place to live.
The president of the Association explained that two days after presenting the documentation, he received a call from a labor inspector who told him that «if there was no formal complaint, they could not do anything». Ponce pointed out that the workers cannot make such a complaint: «If they go to the Labor Inspection and say that they have getting paid under the table, the Labor Inspection takes the complaint, but immediately expels them because the law says that those who are getting paid under the table must be expelled».
Faced with the news that the Government will investigate the issue, the president of the Association pointed out that «the law should not be changed but some issues related to the controls on these companies that deceive them to come to Andorra» should be modified, and then find themselves in these situations.
