CENTRAL BANK HOLDS RATES AT 27.25%

Interest rates stayed put at 27.25 percent this week after the Central Bank decided that further cuts would not be justified in the light of international volatility and persistent inflation at home. The institution’s monthly survey of economists earlier this month revealed that inflation expectations had increased to 19.4 percent for 2018, up from 17.4 percent previously and well above the government target.
