ArteBA to present 400 artists across 80 galleries

More than 80 galleries will present over 400 artists at this year’s arteBA, from May 24 to 27 at the Rural. The longest running artfair in South America always aims high, presenting the best modern and contemporary art currently on offer in Argentina, interacting within the international field, while offering a wide range of programs for the art-loving audience and ignite enthusiasm for first-time visitors, a target group which seems to get younger every year, with, in this edition, a special programme for children. The National Ministry of Culture has invited the colourful master Luis Felipe “Yuyo” Noé, to paint a mural with children and create an imaginary city, followed by workshops during the fair.

The city itself will also stimulate its’ citizens’ imagination with interventions in the Tres de Febrero Park by Nicolás García Uriburu, Laura Glusman and Tomás Saraceno, who, with green tainted waters, viewpoints of nature, and flying plastic bags, create awareness about art and environment - in the context of a show at the Sivori museum. Saraceno’s work will also be shown at the entrance of the contemporary section at the Rural itself, which, this year, is more clearly divided between modernist and contemporary art. A work by Gyula Kosice, the kinetic and luminal artist, will shine at the entrance of the modern section.

As always there will be a lot to see. At your own leisure, or, with a tour, focusing on women artists, the absurd, or how to collect. Discover young emerging art at the Barrio Joven. Pay attention to the selected artists in the Cabinets of the main section. Hunt for special books at the editorial section. Get surprised at U-Turn, the Performance Box and the Solo Shows, all brought together by external curators.
