HALLOWEEN PRESIDENTS

I’d like to believe that both Donald Trump and Jair Bolsonaro are a couple of spooky Halloween characters, rather than flesh-and-blood presidents of two huge countries. They seem to think alike. And mind you: they haven’t dropped out of the blue. They’ve been voted into power by millions of people, who apparently don’t mind their dark characteristics.

Donald’s latest idea: to end birthright citizenship for US-born babies. He might be after a “pure,” “uncontaminated” race, just like Adolf Hitler: white-skinned citi- zens, preferably with red/yellow hair, fully armed, defending the borders against “barbarians.”

Meanwhile, in Brazil, the brand new right-wing president feels he has been sent by God Himself (or is it Herself?) to put things right. Poor America, North and South! Witch-hunt revisited …
