Porteños prepare for a late night as Noche de los Museos returns
Capital’s biggest celebration of culture is back with a bang this evening – almost 300 venues worth of activities, exhibits, and performances to choose from.
Buenos Aires’ famous Noche de los Museos (“Night of the Museums”) returns for its 19th edition today (September 23) with a series of special exhibitions and events.
A cultural staple for porteños almost two decades, the annual attraction invites locals and visitors alike to visit more than 290 participating locations in the city, all free of charge, from 7pm until 2am the next morning.
Last year, more than 900,000 people attended events and establishments on Night of the Museums, turning the city into one big nighttime cultural celebration.
”More than 290 public and private museums and cultural spaces in the city will open their doors for neighbours and tourists to enjoy a unique experience for free,” said Buenos Aires City Culture Minister Enrique Avogadro.
“We invite you to come and get to know the special programming of each space. We hope it will be a moment of cultural encounter, a different type of night to go out, discover and enjoy the cultural heritage of the city,” he added.
Tonight’s highlights include the Oriental Museum’s offering of Asian karaoke alongside Kpop School, K-pop Revolution, and K-style, while the National Museum of Decorative Art will host a youth rap workshop led by producer and hip hop cultural activist Aesuno.
The Museum of Costumes will house Teleteca in Action, a design workshop with designers Araceli Pourcel and Emelia Boscacci, as well as textile creative Pablo Insaurraldi.
