With editing trends currently asking for quick transition­s, lots of shots and varied lighting, it’s easy to see how it could take an age balancing and grading them all so that they provide the narrative support needed, while retaining continuity of the grade.

Resolve 12 goes an awful long way to making your pipeline as slick as possible, with import, conforming, editing, grading and rendering all under one roof – so round tripping make the most of Your tools You can also use Resolve to save having huge render times by masking and recolourin­g, if you need to quickly fix an object’s colour. I have a few simple shots for one scene (you can work with film or renders, the task is the same – but I’m using film), which all need to look like they’re the same time and place.
