Returning for its 32nd year, New Designers will see emerging talent descend upon the Business Design Centre in Islington, London.

Promoting innovative thinking and helping to amalgamate creative design and business, New Designers hosts 3,000 graduates from universities across the UK, exhibiting work in fields from illustration to animation, furniture to fashion, and gaming to glass. New Designers takes place from 28 June to 1 July (Part 1) and 5 to 8 July (Part 2).

Part 1 encompasses areas such as textiles and costume design, while part 2 includes product and industrial design, graphic design, animation and motion digital arts.

Both parts will also include an awards ceremony (28 June for Part 1 and 5 July for Part 2), which previews the work for this year’s exhibition and celebrates creative excellence.

Some of the highlights from 2017’s New Designers include work by Mark Laban, who uses computeraided modelling to replicate handcarved details, Matt Davis’ hyperreal vessels that combine analogue craft with virtual objects, and Evgeniia Balashova’s striking jewellery made from a mix of 3D printing and traditional making techniques.

One Year On meanwhile is a special showcase of work curated by designer Rheanna Lingham, owner and founder of Shoreditch store Luna & Curious.

Amongst homeware, graphics, furniture, textiles, ceramics, jewellery and illustrations, at One Year On, design-hunters can discover original ideas, bold contemporary styles and product innovation to get inspired or to decorate their homes. Who knows, you might just stumble acrosss something you’re desperate to use for as a concept for your next project.

Curator Rheanna Lingham says: “This show is a must see for the brilliant selection of exciting work. In changing times, it is heartening to see so many brave designers and makers establishing their own businesses.”
