project 22 - the Secret garden
“I wanted to create something mysterious and I knew it had to be in a forest,” says architectural illustrator Csaba Bánáti, who works for MIR in Norway. Csaba says he wasn’t short of inspiration from his country’s forests: “I think I have two or three favourite parts in every project,” he continues. “When I get the inspiration, on the same day before I sleep, I start to create the atmosphere in my head. The second best bit is about five hours into the project, after the initial difficulties, when I see that it’s actually going somewhere. And the last one is when it’s almost finished and I can try different tweaks in post, and choose the one that helps my story the best.”
Csaba’s biggest challenge on projects such as this is keeping motivated and having faith in his ideas. Often when he begins creating, the impact he is searching for isn’t there or isn’t strong enough. He finds that “pursuing the feelings” of the piece helps remedy this. boringmike.cgsociety.org
