Working in a node compositing software helps a lot as we just need to replace the loaders with the rendered sequence, add some extra touches and then the final masks. We had to comp different versions of the leaf, apply the masks based on the simulation file, and load the simulated fire. We finally added some roto to help all the different render layers blend better.
