20 MASKING

In order to achieve a smooth transition between the different versions of the leaf, we used a mask based on the fire simulation. Using a bitmap mask we were able to use the luminosity of the image to get an animated mask, and make the green leaf disappear in the same way that the fire was being generated for a smooth burning effect. We added some more handanimated poly masks to add some variations and to help the animation work more realistically.
