Colours always make it easier to read a design or understand the function of separate elements, but don’t overdo it: only use two metals, a shiny and a bare one. Use the shiny one for surfaces that you really want to highlight, and the rough one for areas that are just there for breaking up the main colour. Add an accent colour on pieces that people will interact with.
