The power of Display Filters

Technically, Display Filters are used to adjust pixel values before they are sent to the display driver, allowing stylized effects to be applied during IPR. Another benefit is that as geometry and scenes increase in complexity, NPR calculations don’t require more time to process as it’s operating on the pixels.
