SALES GAME

-

WITH June sales figures now tallied there is a pattern settling in, showing what is selling well this year in dual-range 4x4s – and what isn’t.

The top 10 list (right) points to a strong one-tonne ute presence, with eight utes on the board and just two wagons.

Even then, the Toyota Prado has slipped a position since last month, overtaken in the year-to-date tally by the Holden Colorado. Prado sales have suffered a 3.7 per cent decline in the YTD figures, and a 21.2 per cent hit for June.

Yet not all wagon sales are pegging back. Land Rover’s Discovery 4 is approaching its last year with some strong sales figures – the premium wagon is up 9.4 per cent YTD. Another large wagon to grow in popularity is the Toyota Landcruiser 200, up 14.8 per cent YTD.

At the other end of the scale is the Suzuki Jimny. The evergreen small 4x4 has sold 471 units to the end of June, down 18.1 per cent on the same period last year.
