SLICES OF THE PIE
THERE are some interesting figures buried in the monthly VFACTS sales report, with 4WDS showing no signs of slowing their growth. While the stats don’t split the dual-range wagons from the single-range models, the large-suv-under-$70k segment (in which the likes of Everest, Trailblazer, MU-X, Prado and Fortuner compete) shows a meagre 1.1 per cent growth to the end of November. Meanwhile, the top-shelf large SUVS in the more-than-$70k-segment (including the Discovery, Range Rover, RR Sport and ’Benz Gle-class) has grown by 12.2 per cent this year. As for the Upper-large-suv-under-$100k class, it’s up by a whopping 23.3 per cent, only thanks to the Land Cruiser 200, which has increased 28.8 per cent year-on-year.
Meanwhile, the 4WD ute class is not showing any signs of a sales slow down. Figures are up 9.8 per cent compared to this time last year.
