It’s all about the ‘yum’

- BY DEAN LAWSON

It is just so tantalising! During exploration of the many displays and offers at the Wimmera Machinery Field Days there comes a time when the lure of self-indulgence becomes too great to ignore.

Yes, you might be there to look at what’s new in hydraulics, consider irrigation systems or perhaps find someone to help grind your way through financial options. Whatever!

But there is always that moment when the great urge arrives to take time to ‘sample’.

Okay, pens down and decision made; where’s the Country Gourmet Pavilion?

Right in the hub of the field days, that’s where, so let’s make a bead to the pavilion and see what we can find that can stimulate the taste buds, warm the soul or allow us to enjoy fruits of good health.

There is always something special about discovering a new type of food or drink product that not only sits well with the palate, but also satisfies a thirst or inner rumble.

It might be the lively tang of a unique spritzer, the earthy tones of a boutique red or a tingling white, the calming influence of a long-forgotten variety of tea, the malty richness of a new beer, the unforgettable flavours of delicatessen produce or a creative concoction influenced by various corners of the globe.

What about those edgy and moreish flavours of the olive tree and satisfying the sweet or sour tooth with condiments or preserves?

Perhaps you’re just looking for some wholesome tucker with a difference?

It can be hard to resist, so why bother resisting?

The Country Gourmet Pavilion at the field days features a cross-section of regional fine food, beverages and produce and in adjoining the field days auditorium is a must for lovers of cuisine.

Hmm. Some of us are already licking the lips.
