Try use multi-window support in Android N

Marie Brewis reveals how to use split screen in Android N

-

Enhanced productivity features in the forthcoming Android N operating system let you use two apps on-screen at once. Note that split screen is slightly different to picture in picture, which is designed for TVs. Split screen is a multi-window mode for Android phones and tablets, and there are two ways to get started with it.

Method 1

Long-press the Overview or multi-tasking button (the square) to bring up your recent apps. Next, drag the title bar of any app listed here to the left- or right side of the screen to snap it into place. Tap on another app in the other side of the screen to open it in that section of the window. Tap and drag the black bar that separates the two to resize the windows.

Method 2

Launch any app within Android N. Long-press the Overview or multi-tasking button (the square) to bring up your recent apps in one half of the screen. Tap on another app in the other side of the display to open it in that section of the window. Tap and drag the black bar that separates the two to resize the windows.

In using split screen mode in Android N you’ll notice a couple of new features Google has introduced to Android N: there’s a new Clear all button at the top of your recent apps list, and the number of apps shown here has been reduced with it automatically removing those you haven’t used in a while. You can also switch back and forth between your current and last-used app with a double-tap of the recents button.
