Jaycar USB-C to HDMI Converter

Explore your device’s video output options.

-

USB-C is more than just an easy-touse connector, and can transfer video on compatible devices. To take advantage of that, Jaycar has a USB-C to HDMI converter, allowing you to feed video out to another screen. The adaptor can handle resolutions up to 4K, using USB 3.0 and HDMI V1.4B spec. It does not need drivers either — just plug in and go. The business end measures in at 43 x 43 x 13mm (plus a short cable), and is easy to slip into a bag. Whilst ditching the HDMI port in favour of the smaller USB-C connector doesn’t mean much for larger devices, it can save a lot of space for ultraportable laptops and tablets.

The problem with USB-C to video is that for now, not many devices actually support it. Just because you have a USB-C port, doesn’t mean the underlying hardware can do anything other than charge and transfer data. The Apple Macbook and Chrome Pixel were amongst the first, and there are a range of other devices, from laptops, through to tablets and even desktop motherboards.

For those with a taste for other video formats, Jaycar also has a USB-C to DVI converter, and even an option to output old-school VGA. Both the devices are rated for 1080p resolutions at up to 60Hz. They share identical dimensions as the HDMI model, and cost the same too.

While it is possible to find cheaper converters online, the Jaycar model is worth the price, knowing that is has been properly tested and vetted, and comes with a warranty.
