Everki Atlas Wheeled Laptop Backback

A big bag for carting behemoths.

- Shaun Prescott

Chances are high that if you’re rocking a 17-inch laptop, you’re playing games on it, and those beasts are big. This Everski laptop backpack can accommodate machines up to 17.2-inches, but it holds a whole lot more as well.

The laptop pocket is plush and thick, with adjustable straps to allow carriage of notebooks of various thicknesses and sizes. In the main pocket there’s plenty of room on both sides of this envelope, to the extent that, if you’re packing relatively lightly, this bag could be all you need for short business or pleasure trips. There are six smaller pockets on the front and sides — including an RFID-shielded one that can stop people from surreptitiously cloning things like your passport — and there are further, smaller pockets inside many of these, while the wheels and a retractable handle make it perfect for airports. There are backpack straps squirrelled inside a zip-up pocket at the back too.

With a 17-inch laptop installed (we had a Venom gaming laptop at hand), as well as all manner of other odds and ends, the bag is quite heavy, but the carriage options make it a pleasure to move around with. It’s difficult to make such unwieldy beasts portable, but Everski has done a decent job — and with style as well. The conspicuous lack of bling and the muted, business-like aesthetic appeal of the bag no doubt contribute to the hefty $400 pricepoint. Still, if you’re willing to spend that much on gear, this bag feels durable enough to hold you in good stead for many years to come.
