Secret Lab Omega
A finely-tuned throne geared toward both casual and hardcore sitters.
When piecing together a gaming rig, the last thing you’re probably thinking about is your backside. It’s too easy — and makes sense — to prioritise spending more on high-end components than a seat, especially when it’s this expensive. But for those seeking some ‘gamer’ style for the home office (or just have money to burn) read on.
After so many years of navigating flimsy flatpack instructions, assembling the Omega is a dream. The bundled instructions — plus supporting YouTube how-to video — are ample for what is literally snapping five wheels to an aluminium frame and tightening a handful of bolts. The racing-themed Omega is crafted from dense, coldcured foam and clad in a supple and resilient PU leather outing (leather backing with a polyurethane surface) and, coupled with the neck rest and lumbar pillow bundled in the box, you shouldn’t have a problem being comfortable in the long-term.
On top of the traditional chair-height, backrest tilt and lean positioning found on most office chairs, the Omega boasts great ‘gamingcentric’ armrests. With four-direction positioning (you can change the height, adjust their position front-toback and left-to-right, as well as angling the armrests in-and-out) there’s really nothing out there that can compare. It makes switching from an upright keyboard and mouse position (and the chair can actually fit under the desk) to a comfortable recline for controller use very quick and easy.
However, the Omega does come with a recommended height and weight range — between 160-180cm and under 120kg. That said, this 186cm reviewer found it very cosy.
