Logitech MX Master
A master craft for home and abroad.
One of the first things to come to mind when looking over the Logitech MX Master is the beautiful design. Be it the contours, the polygonal shape forming a textured lattice or the tasteful play between matte and gloss surface finishes paired with differing smooth and textured surfaces to the touch. It’s a visually pleasing mouse to behold, and similarly thanks to considered ergonomics, it is equally pleasant to hold.
The gesture control is a nice touch. It could even help the most dedicated mac-OS lovers start to feel at home — or at least welcomed — using a Windows platform with gestures. But it’s not just for Windows. No, the Logitech Options software, used to configure the advanced button-activated features, is compatible with both Apple OS X (10.8 or later) and Microsoft Windows (7/8/8.1/10).
With large yet effortlessly smooth bottom contact patches for the mouse to skate across surfaces, the MX Master made easy work of each surface we tracked the unit over. Paired with a 500mAh Lithium-polymer (Li-Po) battery centrally located, the mouse feels well weighted.
It has an unfortunate flaw due to the internally mounted battery lacking an external hatch access — there is nowhere to store the wireless nano receiver. In contrast, the predecessor, the Performance Mouse MX (M950), allowed for the nano receiver to be easily stored in the battery compartment, stowed for wherever you may be headed.
This minor gripe aside and with a myriad of other features, the MX Master is a fine mouse — albeit pricey!
