Clash of Clans blocked in Iran

CARTOONISH GAME ABOUT WAR ACCUSED OF PROMOTING VIOLENCE.

-

The mobile strategy game Clash of Clans is rather popular in Iran (and everywhere else); however, a panel of Iranian psychologists has decided that the game encourages violence and tribal conflict. According to Iran’s Deputy Attorney General, the “vast majority” of the panel (who, we’re guessing haven’t actually played Clash) voted to limit the availability of the title. While the ban may not be indefinite, the game can luckily still be played via VPN services. This is not the first game that has been blocked from players in the country, with Pokémon GO still banned due to the potential security threat wandering Trainers may pose to “sensitive locations”.
