Even the iPhone isn’t immune

-

Mobile devices are not safe either, and while you may think this is just an Android problem, not so. iPhone users recently suffered a scare by what has been revealed as fake ransomware. Instead of locking the device, it ran through JavaScript and locked down the device’s web browser, demanding the victims send the code for a £100 iTunes gift card via text. According to security firm Lookout, the ransomware doesn’t encrypt any data, it just pretends to, and scares the user into carrying out its demands. Apparently clearing the browser cache is enough to get rid of it. Apple has released a software update in an effort to prevent it from happening again.
