At Google’s I/O developer event in mid-May, CEO Sundar Pichai announced a range of impressive stats relating to the company’s core products, but perhaps the biggest milestone among those was that Android is now being used on more than 2 billion active devices. Pichai attributed the success to the immense and rapid growth of mobile devices in general, saying it’s great for the company’s intended shift to an “AI-first approach”, as more people buy into Google’s media and app ecosystems.
