If, like us at APC, you can’t decide between chicken salad, sushi or a cheese and onion toastie for lunch, Decision Crafting is for you. It’s also for you if you’re tossing up where to go on your holidays, if you should go to a party or not, or figure out which charity to honour in your will. How can one app cover both frivolous or fateful life choices? Remarkably easily, actually. You write out what your options are, then set the criteria that defines them, and give each criteria a weighting on a scale of one to ten. So you could have ease of obtaining said lunchtime option, cost, how repetitive that choice is and how tasty it’ll be, with more emphasis (10 points) on taste, but less (1 point) on repetition. The app takes all these numbers, animates the result and offers an objective, purely scientific solution that can be exported to an image or CSV file. Simple to operate, sure, but you have to be careful how you phrase your categories, or you may trip over your own criteria, and the UI is a little clumsy. Nevertheless, sushi it is... and I guess I’ll stick with the wife.
