Crucial Ballistix Sport LT DDR42400 C16
No silver bullet.
Crucial is the retail arm of Micron, one of the world’s largest IC manufacturers. That means Crucial is the brand found in the IT channel for branded products and Micron serves the OEM business to supply large system integrators such as Dell. Crucial’s memory products have three tiers within the Ballistix range. Within this range, the Ballistix Sport variant delivers entry-level solutions, with the mid and top tiers served by the Ballistix Tactical and Ballistix Elite products respectively.
This kit represents the cheapest 16Gb (2 x 8GB) combo in the roundup. Not surprisingly, the memory bandwidth provided by DDR4-2400 frequency and C16 based timings isn’t pack leading. But what it does deliver for the dollars is a fair effort. However, for a few dollars more, you could get a set of the Ripjaws V DDR4-3000 C15 (over the page) which deliver a higher grade of performance. This said, the Crucial kit does have a unique and attractive aesthetic appeal.
