While shopping around online is a great way to get the best price, the Comsol TPP10BK bank is an OfficeWorks exclusive, meaning it’ll be one of the easiest to find in if you prefer the convenience (and safety) of shopping in the traditional brick-and-mortar way. (OfficeWorks has around 160 stores across the country, so there should be one nearby that stocks this particular bank.)
The Comsol TPP10BK has a 10,000mAh capacity, a soft touch plastic body and features three USB ports. One is rated for 2A fast charging, while the other two can output 1A each. While it would have been nice to see at least two ports handling 2A+, having the two extra 1A connections is very handy for charging multiple lower-current devices at once — especially useful if you’re being forced to share this device with another member of your digitally savvy family.
Like most power banks, the Comsol charges up via micro-USB, and includes a short cable in the box. Another feature the Comsol sports is a built-in “emergency torch” with a twist — rather than an exposed LED, it lights up the entire translucent white end of the power bank as a lamp, and is therefore great for use when camping.
In testing, we pulled a solid 97% of the rated capacity — above what we expected considering efficiency losses.
It’s not as pocket-sized as others in this roundup, coming in at 9.5 x 3.5 x 20cm, but its extra features more than make up for any lack of portability.
