Logitech G703
A Powerplay-compatible wireless gaming mouse for $100 less.
If the G903’s $250 price point is too dear, or you don’t like its design, Logitech thankfully has another Powerplay compatible wireless mouse on offer: the ergonomically shaped G703 — an upgraded version of the G403.
The G703 has fewer features and customisation options than the higher-end G903, but the main difference is a flatter and wider design that’s a bit more comfy for palmgrippers — although at 107g, it’s still lightweight enough that more finger-oriented grip styles work fine, too.
The pain point for wireless mice is recharging them, but even if you’re not willing to fork out another $150 to get the Powerplay mat, the G703 manages charging fairly seamlessly. As with the G903, there’s a 1.83m braided USB cable included in the box, which will securely plug into the front of the mouse to charge it — and this doesn’t impede performance, meaning that, when tethered, the G703 works just like an other wired gaming mouse. With 2–3 hours per day of gaming with medium/highsensitivity settings, we found ourselves recharging the mouse every 1.5 weeks or so — almost bang-on Logitech’s claimed 32 hours.
There’s little between the G703 and G903 — both use the same sensor (the Pixar PMW3366, 200–12,000dpi) and Logitech Gaming Software for sensitivity, button and lighting configuration. The G703 has only one DPI button, though, so you need to cycle through different sensitivity settings, rather than move back and forth), but it’s well-equipped with six programmable buttons. So it still packs in all the critical elements.
